Oh yes, they are as delicious as they sound and my poor photography skills don't even do them justice! This recipe is courtesy of my Mother In Law! Earlier I posted our Advent Activites. The very first of which was to make cinnamon rolls, so while making them this evening I took a few pictures! Here's the recipe, it's really very easy!
For the Dough You'll Need:
2 C. Milk
1/2 C. Butter
1 T. Salt
1 C. Sugar
2 Eggs, Beaten
7 C. Better For Bread Flour (It's in a yellow bag!)
1 C. Warm Water
1 T. Yeast
-------------------------------------------------
For the Filling You'll Need:
1- 1 1/2 C. Brown Sugar
2/3. C. Chopped Walnuts (Optional)
2/3 C. Raisins (Optional)
About 1-2 Tbs. Cinnamon
What You're Gonna Do:
Pour the milk into a saucepan and turn the heat to medium. As soon as the milk starts to boil add the butter, salt and sugar. Once the butter has completley melted remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature. Add the yeast to the cup of warm water and set aside for 5 minutes. In a mixing bowl add the eggs, flour, yeast mixture and milk mixture together and mix until incorporated. Cover the bowl with a towel and let the dough rise until double in size.
Cut the dough in half and place each dough ball onto a lighlty floured surface. Roll each out 1/2 inch thick, 12 inch wide and 24 inch long. Pour 2 Tbs. Melted Butter onto each. Sprinkle 1/2 C.- 3/4 C. Brown Sugar over each of the rolled out doughs. Sprinkle cinnamon evenly over top the brown sugar. Then top with chopped walnuts and/ or raisins. Roll them up and cut using a piece of thread! Cut them about 1 1/2- 2 in. thick and place them about a 1/2 in. a part. Leave the unbaked cinnamon rolls on the pan until they double in size (about 1 hr) then bake at 350 for 15-20 minutes.
You Will Need:
3 T. Butter
1/4 C. + 2 Tbs. Brown Sugar
1/4 C. + 2 Tbs. White Sugar
1/2 C. Heavy Cream (or 1/2 C. Milk + 2 Tbs. Butter)
9 Large Marshmallows (13 Mini Marshmallows = 1 Large Marshmallow)
1 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
1 1/2 C. Powdered Sugar
What You Will Do:
Mix butter, brown sugar, white sugar and heavy cream together in a saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil and cook rapidly for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and add the marshmallows in. Once the marshmallows have melted add the vanilla and powdered sugar. Frost overtop warm cinnamon rolls!
